The 6 Steps

 

What was your attitude when you first lost your job? Shock, Anger,Denial,Fear, Panic, Embarrassment, Shame. These are normal emotions when a person first loses a job. Step One will help in identifying your attitude and taking positive actions to create a positive new attitude.

As it relates to the job search process, assessment is simply doing some things to discover our accomplishments and attributes to determine where we best fit in the world of work. Where will we be most successful? In Step two we will determine the specific strengths and accomplishments we can bring to the employer.

“You Incorporated” You already have a full time job. You are the president of “You Incorporated.” And, of course, your product is you. You will now be working full time marketing yourself to prospective employers. In this step, we will consider how to locate prospective employers and job openings, then we will deal with the ways we cause them to want to interview us.

There are five documents that are basic to any job search: a Marketing Letter, Resume, Cover Letter, Proof of Performance, and Business Cards. Thank you notes are a common courtesy that have become too uncommon. Therefore, the person who uses them stands out from the crowd. Common wisdom used to say that thank you notes should be in the mail the same day as the interview. In this step you will learn specifically who should receive thank you notes and when and how they should receive them. The training in this step may surprise you.
